Sharpen knives made imprints in the land bellow my frame as it moved in a three beat across the soggy land of Dark Waters. A rough brust of carbon left my paper thins as I continued with out stoppting until I had crept fully into the land. Silent like a shadow I waited for any sound to reach my pinned thorns.
Indeed I had been claimed by Fire just a few hours ago. Our meeting had been interesting and I did not doubt that he was still a bit baffled by how I hadnt really litstened. OKay, so I getting a wee bit over cocky here but you know what my dears? If you don't lke it that sucks for you. Tossing my serpentine I let my chains rattle in the wind before chaining them back down. Arabic dial turned up upon my head as my crimson sneer remained. Now were was that brute?

Fire, it turned out, was only a few hundred feet away, grazing peacefully. His golden coat sparkled despite the overcast skies hanging low over Dark Waters. He swished his brilliantly contrasting ebony plume in the lazy breeze wafting gently over his terra. Dial lifted slightly as he chewed. Orbs, a slightly unfocused cast to them, drifted around his terra.
Now, where were his herd members--all two of them? Moonlight Threat was nowhere to be seen, and Azera hadn't even shown up yet, not since he'd left her at the forcing grounds. Of course, he'd had no intention of forcing a dark--they were too sparky, and anyways, there was no pleasure in scaring them, since they didn't scare. Especially not Azera. He treated her with such disdain, and yet he had a certain, well, not quite soft spot for her. He vaguely admired her spunk, her rebellion. He liked that in a mare, if he liked anything.
He scanned the shadows thrown by objects in the half-light of the overcast day. That grayish glow that bounces off everything was everywhere, making it hard to see. But there--what was that? A darker shadow moved in the murky-looking areas where the light was scarce. Ah, there she was--Azera, the mare he'd foolishly thought was a light. Her liver chestnut didn't stand out that well against the shadows, but Fire's keen eyesight allowed him full view.
((Wow, I was totally bored and made it long... why do I suddenly have so much muse for this guy??))

Behind the king steadily came a dappled form with banner and tresses hanging low, resting 'pon her nape. Orbs watched Fire with disinterest. But was he watching something?
Her own pelt hid her well in the darkness, she could be mistaken for a shadow of a tree or something, though truely she didn't think she could hide herself. After all, these were darks, right? Gawl, they had a way of sensing anothers pulse in the gloom. But that isn't the point. The vixen came to stand only a few feet behind Fire. She scanned the shadows and yes, did see what the king had spotted. Was this one of they who Fire said might be joining? She warily watched the newcomer. Not scared, stupid. More curious then anything, and slightly put out.
She had been the kings only member for a time, and though that was hardly any kind of thing to boast about, she had been in a postion to... how to put it, influence the king.... Nah.
But it dosn't matter. Threat's onyx daggers tread silently the wet ground until she stood just behind Fire. "Newcomer?" she hissed, certain she was going to startle him. After all, the darks were silent movers...

Seeing as how it was the dead of night, my favorite time of day, it was dark and expect for luna and her silver rays. The silver rays of the moon shone down, making the figure of Fire stand out sightly against the darkness that had swallowed us whole. His golderod jack stood still and my optics flashed and met his. Thorns pinned against my dished zenith and I was about to head down another came into veiw.
This time it was a mare of lucid tint. Attitude seemed aloof and a little bit in different. Don't worry my darling I won't annoy her..yet. If she was what I thought she was, I was going to have a hard time getting along with her. See, I happen to depeise those mares who dare called themselves Lucifers own. They spend there life reaching for the top, straining to me the best because they think they are all that but in truth they will never get there. Lets just hope your not one of them eh?
Hearing her hiss my aybesses rolled in their sockets, ivory of my mocha pools showing along with the crimson veins that ran through it. Like a ghost I floated down. Hock kisser swayed behind me and my tresses lifted up slightly as I made my way down to the duo. Pistons snapped up and down, backward and forward in a fluid motion. Knives dug into the earth but left little imprint. No I wasn't playing the part of a temptress you fools. I was merely playing and going by my own rules. If you've got it, flaunt it baby. But not to much. Sneer flicked acorss my velveteen as I stopped near them and released some twisted tunes from my own mug.
If you wish to say somthing about me, say to my face. I don't enjoy being talked about behind my back
Sneer melted into smirk as I awaited the snapping tones of this mare. Well, maybe this would be fun after all my darlings. BUt only time will tell, only time.

Fire was about to reply to Threat's one-word question when Azera interrupted. Mares were always doing that, just jumping into conversations that didn't include them. Well, this one certainly included her, seeing as how Threat had inquired directly after her. But she just butted in and started--disciplining a member of his herd! She was practically undermining his authority! But he kept his cool. Mostly.
"Azera," he said boredly. "She wasn't talking behind your back... just asking if you were new. She's just curious," he said plainly, sounding oddly light for himself. "And this is Moonlight Threat, my first herd member," he went on, hinting that Threat was more important than Azera--hey, he wasn't exactly nice.

Talking behind her back? Who was she kidding? Not like Threat was trying to keep this newcomer from hearing her. Her auds pinned themselves against her skull and she was about to make a snappy retort when Fire spoke. Who did he think he was? Okay, he was king but she still had her own mouth. "I can speak for myself, thank you." she snapped at him. Sure, she was pleased he still thought her more important then Azera, as he called the mare before them, but she really didn't need him to speak for her. She moved from behind him to stand at his side, cold eyes looking Azera up and down.

Oh so she wasn't talking about me in that nasty wasy? My my, what a mistake on my part. At the hinting of Threats importance I merely let my pools roll inside my sockets and then listened to the vocals of this other wench. Please, like I cared that she was the first in this pathectic group? M'dearies, honestly, just being the first member doesn't give you power. It doesn't give you assured leadess or queen ethier. That comes in time darlings. And even if you do get it, whose to say I won't challange you for it.
Oh yes, a queen postions would be lovely but I wasn't going to pounce on it. I wasn't going to tempt the titain and nor would I kill every mare who came into the harem until I received the title. I would wait like a deadly viper and slowly but surely I would attack the postion if given to me. Oh yes, while it was a postion I would love, I wasn't going to act like a fool to get it. And who says I would get it. Plenty of things could happen between now and when he choose his b*tch.
Well, we had gotten off to a lovely start hadn't we? Smirk remained, forever plastered upon my liver chesnut facade. As the frame of Threat moved close to Fire I sent him a look with a rasied brow that question him. Hadn't he said earlier that he didn't like be near others, let alone contact. Oh well, suit yourself darlings, suit yourselves. Crimson stained parted as i drawled out my hiss into the long night air.
My most sincere apologies Threat, you see when one's tones are lowered and they staring directly towards the equine they speak of, one usualy asumes that tones are being spoken about them. As Fire has already said I am Azera. And as you already said Moonlight, I think us mares can speak for ourselves
Cold glance was cat over to the stallion who had so cockly and yet boredly introduced us. D*mn him. Thinking us to be unable of speech. Had he not held such a rank I would hav spat another coment back out at him but for now I contained myself and awaited the answer of etheir Threat or Fire

Fire sighed at Azera's words. Oh yes, he could tell that she wanted the Queen's position. He supposed he could grow to appreciate her, though she'd never love her the way lights fell in love. No, no, he wasn't the type. He was the kind of person who would feign love, pretend to feel compassion, then rip it away. Hey, it was funner. More fun? Anyways. It was a better feeling inside, more satisfying. He was dark, anyways, not light like his sap of a mother. He was like his sire, dark enough to walk with Satan and all that crap.
But Azera did seem rather more suited for the position of dark leadess. She seemed more of the type. She was bitter, where Threat was more like the torturing person. Fire already supplied that, and too much was a bit boring. Azera brought contrast. She was different. She was dark, oh yes he wasn't defying that, but she was differently dark. And that's not a bad thing. Darkness isn't like sappy lights, all happy-go-lucky and "whee isn't life wonderful". Darkenss has contrasts within it. Those light gits are all the same.
The more he thought about it, the more the two mares had in common, however. They seemed to be the same age. Threat was just a sliver taller. They both had the concave faces of those of the arabian lineage. Though Azera was liver chestnut and Threat was dappled as the moon, their conformations were similar, considering their lineage and all.
And then there was Fire. Fire of the Clouds. Short, stocky, wimpy-looking Quarter Horse. He was muscular, yeah. But he was short. He stood merely a shade above fifteen hands. He was the spawn of Hellfire, the most famous of dark kings. He, like his father before him, would succeed the throne. His father was now walking with Satan down below in the fires of hell, like his name, Hellfire.
But there was his dam to consider. He had grown from the age of merely three moons without his mother. His father told him that his dam was a sappy light by the name of Cloudy Night, a dapple gray whose coloring, though in theory the same as Threat's, was in fact nearly white. How a pitch-black stallion and a white mare came to produce an infuriatingly sparkling offspring was beyond him: but hey, at least his mane and tail were dark. It reflected his personality, if anything.
Jolting back to earth as Azera's words finished sliding through the air, he replied, "Azera, watch your tongue." Aack, the lightness hurt. "You may find it no longer residing in your mouth," he covered up quickly. There. It sounded pleasing to the ears and cowing to the mare. At least, it should.
((Hee hee. Pretty postie.))

Threat sighed and rolled her eyes to herself. Fire was bad at makeing threats. She glared at Azera and tossed her pale mane proudly. So Azera and Threat were not off to a good start. But then, that wasn't really a surprising thing. Threat wasn't light in any way and it certainly wasn't the darks way to try to impress eachother. Intimidate, maybe. Impress? No, definently not. ((At least one of us has muse, Cookie. ))
